With the arrival of a new year, comes reflections on the 2024 year that passed on what was achieved in the art realm. Amongst last year’s highlights is my return to painting during last year’s annual Vancouver Mural Festival.
In lieu of actual mural painting last year, I got into some live painting during three day sunny days of the Mount Pleasant Street Party, one of the festival’s annual summer street parties. Painted on a 35″ x 36.6″ wood board, the painting serves as a visual interpretation of the spirit of art itself. It depicts streams of color flowing down and giving form to a feeling in the shape of a figure in motion.
Expression always flowing within us, through us. Form in Flow.
My time painting during the festival was definitely one of the more memorable summer happenings. I got to bask in the sun and paint with free creative reign, all while interacting with onlookers young and old.
A few of said onlookers were friends who graciously snapped a few pics of me in action.
I was also lucky to once again be featured briefly in some local news coverage of the festival:
With all that being said, I look back on those few days of the summer and feel particularly blessed.
Here’s to making more memorable times for painting and connecting in 2025.
Let’s go!
