ROLE
Designer, Illustrator
From 2007 to 2010, I had the distinct honour of designing and illustrating the promotional artwork for the Giovanni Bastone Foundation‘s annual fundraiser gala for childhood cancer research. Each year, the gala’s events revolved around a different theme that was reflected in both the respective name of each year’s gala and the esthetic of the respective celebrations, including its visual branding.
CASINO ROYALE
The name of the 2007 was Casino Royale which was themed to the James Bond film of the same name. Immediately upon beginning concept work, it was only fitting to feature Giovanni Bastone himself front and center in the legendary role. Promotional materials included designs for posters, tickets, programs covers, press ads, table tents, and wine labels.
VIVA GLAM
Viva Glam was the theme for the 2008 gala, which revolved around young cancer survivors at red carpet Hollywood premieres in their honour. A must-see event showcasing glamour through unbreakable resilience…Viva glam!
Promotional materials included designs for posters, tickets, programs covers, press ads, table tents, and a sponsor wall.
Moonlight Masquerade
For the 2009 fundraiser gala, a masquerade theme was set, titled Moonlight Masquerade. In establishing the principal visuals, Mr. Bastone himself was once again brought back as a lead figure withing the promotional artwork, along with a child dancing under the moonlight – hope shining brightly.
Promotional materials included designs for posters, tickets, programs covers, press ads, and a sponsor wall.
Shine
The spirit of shining in the face of a cancer was used in setting the theme for the 2010 gala – Shine. Not just shinning, but celebrating one’s resilience through song and dance, by way of a nod to the disco era.
Promotional materials included designs for posters, tickets, programs covers, press ads, and a sponsor wall.
