Well…once again, it’s been a minute since I’ve written anything or even posted anything but in no way should that be a sign that I have let art fall by the wayside. To the contrary, I’ve been buried in new projects, many of which are still ongoing.
There will not be enough time to get into it all by way of a single post, so for now I will just touch on one of my more recent paintings – Awake.
The concept came together somewhat as a result of my reflections post-completion of the ‘…And the Monkey Flips the Switch’ painting series. The main theme throughout the paintings of said series was social evolution. In a similar vein to such evolution came more introspective reflections on how I have personally been evolving as an artist and as a human being. Through these reflections, I find myself peeling back the layers of the person I have become and looking upon myself through my third eye. Self-realization. I both love and hate what I see, but either way I know and acknowledge what I truly am. Only now can I truly come into my own and build upon my raw form – the hairless ape.
