In recognition of Black History Month in 2025, I was commissioned by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC to design a special edition jersey to be worn by Whitecaps’ players throughout the moth of February.
Using Pan African colors (black, yellow, red and green) as my palette, I incorporated visual designs based on both traditional African textiles, Vancouver symbolisms, and even a quote by Jean Augustine, the first Black Canadian woman to serve as a federal Minister of the Crown and a Member of Parliament.

The project was a great opportunity for me to return to the realm of sports fashion, which I have not dabbled in since my years as a high school student illustrating tee’s for the different sports teams at school. It goes without saying that being commissioned to produce art for a professional sports team is the epitome of next level, and I thoroughly enjoyed the creative freedom I was given to conceptualize the designs freely.

The jersey launch itself brought about a good amount of exposure, including an interview on local morning news where I was even unintentionally given the surname of Bishop. ;-P
It’s just too bad that the jersey isn’t available for sale. Hopefully that will change in the future with enough demand. ♥
