SNAG – Bruisers

On February 11th, I had the pleasure of being able to participate in Snag – a live painting art show and raffle that occurs weekly at The Cobalt.

The premise: a handful of artists spend 4 hours working on works of art, as onlookers drink, mingle, and take in a stage performance or two…we got burlesque dancers that night. :)
Although most artist work on one piece each, I ended up working on two pieces. It wasn’t that I was trying to be a keener, but the idea came as a pair, based on a series of paintings which I am currently working on – Alpha, and Tiger. Both pieces play with the subject of sex as an identity and as a drive in interaction, however I soon thought of playing with the roots of sex in childhood.
The result:

King of Man

Tiger Daughter

Truth be told, I was a bit nervous that I would not be able to complete them both before night’s end, so I prepped them well in advance, as some do.
In the end, I finished them both off , but only raffled off one of piece – King of Man.
>:-( I’m just annoyed that I did not take a proper picture of the painting in its completion, and so unfortunately the picture posted is a rough assembly from a few partial shots, edited as best I could in Photoshop.
Hopefully the gentleman who won the piece will get in touch with me, so I can eventually take a decent picture. I know…I know…I should have gotten his contact info, but what can I say…the complimentary brews got to me.
To the man who won my painting: Holler if you can homie!
…My website is on the card I gave you. E-mail me through the contact page.

Regardless, it was a fun night!

Still wondering why we were called Bruisers…
;-)
